How to read this
A location quotient (LQ) compares how concentrated a store type is in one state versus the country overall. An LQ of 1.0 means the state has exactly its 'fair share' of that category. An LQ of 2.0 means twice the national share — a genuine local specialty.
We computed the LQ for every store category in every state, then surfaced the categories each state over-indexes on most. Rare categories and tiny counts are filtered out so the signatures are real, not noise.
